世尊！ 我从今日乃至菩提，不自为己行四摄法， 为一切众生故， 以不爱染心、无厌足心、无罣碍心，摄受众生。

　　World-Honored One! From now on until theattainment of Buddhahood, I will practice the four methods of embracement not for my own benefit,but for the sake of all sentient beings. I willembrace sentient beings and lead the way with anundefiled mind, a mind free from discouragement and satisfaction, and a mind without obstruction.

　　换句话说，想要及早登地，就得要行四摄法；可是行四摄法并不是为了利益自己，而是为了利益众生。为一切众生的缘故，要用三种心来摄受众生；因为四摄法的目的就是为了摄受众生，布施、爱语、利行、同事，都是为了摄受众生，不是为自己。

　　In other words, in order to quickly attain the FirstGround, one will need to practice the four methods of embracement; however, these four methods should notbe implemented for one’s own benefit, but for the sake of all sentient beings. One will need to embracesentient beings and lead the way with three kinds ofmind; the aim of these four methods – giving, utteringkind words, performing good deeds, cooperating withand assisting others – is to guide and help sentientbeings, not to benefit oneself.
